I emailed Hauck the other day to find out what the specs were on my helix. I showed him a couple pictures of the helix and he mentioned that the spring should not be set any lighter then 6 on the helix and 3 on the clutch side. My setup is 6 helix, 2 clutch side. I emailed him back asking what I should do and havent got a return message yet. So should i put it on 6 and 3? Also, would having the spring set wrong cause my primary clutch to slip and put rubber marks on the clutch face? Thanks guys

havent had a chance to get it on a clear straight run. Ill try to find out tomorrow

Well when I first ran this sled, it seemed to me like the belt was slipping(made sort of a growling noice near the clutchs) I figured it was because it was a brand new belt but now that Hauck mentioned about the secondary I wondered if maybe the secondary wasnt back-shifting like it should which would cause the belt to slip on the primary. Im gonna put the sled back together tonight and do some runs.

I'm still trying to figure out what difference's when you change the wrap say if it's at 80 what will happen if you change to 90 say on a str8t 47 with 8bu-00 4.5 tip, 0.8 inner G/W/G will slow the shift in the secondary more instead off pulling the belt lower quicker or will this just make more heat and throw the clutching out of whack, I just need one more sled length on those F7's

I'm sure I'm not even making any sense here but..........LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

make more heat , band aid clutching

RIGHT OFF THE BAT, WHEN YOU INCREASE SECONDARY TWIST, YOUR RPM WILL INCRESE. HOW MUCH ? DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH WEIGHT IN YOUR PRIMARY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

x2
you can twist all you want , youll need the weight and spring up front and a shallower helix and spring @ the back , ok for hills climbing if thats what he's doing .

Update: Finally got the sled squared away to where I could take it for a long ride. Engagement is 4500, full throttle is 8500. Seems to backshift good to me from my limited experience(doesnt bog at all when i snap on/off the throttle) Hauck emailed me back and said that the spring is set too light in the 6/2 position and he would run in in the 9/2 position. Ive been thru this before on cars, bikes, etc where something works good and u try to change it for the better and just end up going backwards. So should I change it to the 9/2 position? Im guessing the sled will just over rev

When I went from 70 to 80 wrap I lost about 500 rpms on the top end and this was with a yamaha green spring.

A lot of the springs supplied in "Clutch Kits" are not Yamaha springs so the indexing of the spring ends are not in the same location of OEM Yamaha springs.

Wrapping an OEM spring in the 6/2 position would be 80 degrees but that same position on your Hauck spring may be[probably is] something completely different.

IMO:
When clutch tuning always keep notes and record all changes and settings with comments so you can always go back to known sttings. I would recommend you listen to the clutch kit supplier's advice, Hauck in this case.
If the recommended changes don't work out...go back to where it was.
