carb part ?

i was wondering if the plastic piece that sits around the main jet is very important if it does not fit tight anymore it almost falls offf to the touch,

its a carb off a 2000 sxr700

Yes it falls off easily when the carb is apart, but the floatbowl has a recess to hold it in place when assembled. it's a baffle to keep the main in a puddle of fuel and acts as a sump in extreme conditions of fuel flow.
