Does anyone have a VIN decoder for vintage Yamaha Snowmobiles? I have what I think is a 1978 SRX 440 (Hood with Black on top white on bottom, Aluminum front bumber that ends 1/2 way around the belly pan on each side, red stripe and 440 decal down the side of the tunnel). The Vin # is 8G9 000316, and there was documentaion that the previous owner said was for a 1979??. Could it be an early, or Canadian 1979?
i was lookin around looks like 79 they were almost all blac not how u described yours ,,,,,from your description it sounds like 76 77 or 78 ,,,,,but i dont know the vintage sleds .....someone will jump in and give a deninate answer for that vin

THATS A 1978 SRX BUD. NOTHING EARLIER, NOTHING LATER. THE YAMAHA PREFIX FOR 1979 SRX WAS 8J0. 3:16 (yammie tony)
