I have a stock motor in my 2000 SRX with minor clutch mods: 8dn20's with 5.5 in second hole and 3.5 in tip and RX1 helix secondary. www spring.
Loved this setup, but I don't ever lake race and don't need to go 100+ MPH. I like riding tight trails and thought I would try gearing for the first time.
I bought a 20 tooth drive gear and want to put it in place of the stock 23 and want opinions on what to expect with less drag on my clutches. I already have the 68 chain for it.
I will probably max at 90 MPH, but I want to get there as fast as possible. Am I gonna be happy or do i need to redo my clutching?

SO YOU WANT TO RUN 20/38 GEARING (1.94 ratio). GET THERE ALOT FASTER, BUT LESS SPEED. you will be geared for 96 mph on paper 3:16 (yammie tony)

96 top end is cool for me because I plan to get there in 3 seconds. So I don't have to change anything in the clutch to make best use of power then?
Can't wait to try this out. My buddy's Nitro is gonna eat my rooster tail.

With the lower gearing you may over-rev and have to add a little weight to bring the r's back down.
