"Slight" electrical problem SRX, help!
Hey guys. so today i finally got the srx together and started it, runs perfectly. (98' srx600)
I have built it up from banana-boxes of parts so im stoked it ran so well
anyways as it was idle'ing for about 10 minutes the lights started to turn on and off and i noticed also that gauges, taillight, oil light, everything was out, so no current at all to the sled, except the coils i guess, since it was running.
I believe that the grip warmers were still functioning aswell..
Took it for a spin and the electricity came back for a few secs, and then dark again..
Any suggestions as to where i should look? I'm thinking bad connection somewhere, that maybe "rattled" out of place as it was running..?
could it be the main from stator?
sorry for long post.. thanks =)

damn.. now all electronics on the sled is off, it was good for a while but then lights started flashing on and off and now completely gone.. sled still runs tho..
i don't know how the Load Control Relay looks, and it doesnt really make sense with the drawing in the service manual.. any thoughts?
oh and it blew the front low beam light, only worked for a short while on high beam after that..

I'm trying to download your owners manual (dial up internet)... you may not have a relay on a 98... all later models sled did have relays... tj

yes, as mentioned above... also look for a possible bad connection ... Your sled doesn't have a relay like later models do... stop looking for it... sorry for that confusion... tj...

i have this same problem on my sled, i think it started when i hit a buried pile of rocks and rolled my sled(oops) but then i noticed when i turned the low beams on the lights went out, but when i moved the bars a bit they came back on, so i ignored it until it started doing it with high beams as well, i wound up pulling all the top plastics off to tune my carbs, and un-clipped all electrical, clipped it all back together and made sure there wasn't any loose wires and presto, no electrical cut-out. id say long story short, im almost positive its a bad connection, un-clip everything wiggle the wires to make sure they aren't loose, and put it back together and see what it does

make sure voltage regulator (#2) on schematic for 98 SRX600 is plugged in correctly...

ok, I will check all of the above..
i also noticed wigling the handlebars made the sled light up again for a short time, could definately be a bad connection.
thanks alot guys

sounds like rub thru .....pull wire harness from under the motor ...most likely the blue wire is rubbed thru grounding itself out on the belly of bulkhead ....tape each wire single and than tape all them together and reroute across top of carbs ....
