I agree with Speednut..why bother with 2000ft when it can be done in 1000..I have personal best of 118MPH in 1000ft, not officially recorded ( just playing on the lake with a Stalker Pro) but witnessed by at least 2 members of this site (and you guys know who you are...we could write a song...Ode to Mary Lake) ;)!

This was the results at the first race last year.
Stock 700S* Patty Olson 2003 Artic Cat F 7 116.285 115.817 in 1000'
Results at second race last year,
Stock 700S 271 Patty Olson 2003 Artic Cat F 7 113.089 in 1000'

These are results from the NSSR (CMSA) races. These are professional racers with race specific machines.

to be honest, i am willing to be that most of the canadian racers have maxxed out the speed around 1320' and the rest is just along for the ride.

I'd love to run 1000ft too!!!! But our race organization wants 2000ft.. We don't make the rules just run by them.. As for the statement on speed gains over 1320ft come out and have a look for yourself.. The bigger sleds keep pulling all the way through the run. Pretty neat to see a sled run close to 200 mph.. I personally think the 200 mph barrier will fall this season...
NSSR has some wicked fast sleds but anyone that thinks running 200MPH in 2000ft is easy should comeout and show us Canadians how slow we are... I look forward to seeing a sled that will break the 200 mph barrier..

First off I am NOT a pro...I drove my SXR on the trails to get to the event lined myself up on the track with snow and ice up in the rear skid and posted 116.1mph with a read head tripple...lets compare applpes to apples...1000ft set up compared to 2000ft is totally different. Most 1000ft set up sleds will self destruct is they did a 2000ft full out run.
 
We are setup to run 2000', not 1000, therefore we are not maxxed out at the 1/4 mile mark, and do accellerate through the 2000 mark'. Do we gain alot in the remaining 660 feet? Not a huge amount, in comparison.

We run 2000' because that is what is available to us. You need to look at all the variables before you make a bold statement like "most run faster in 1000' than the Canadians do in 2000". In order to run 2000', your motor has to be able to live the distance, which means taking out compression, timing, and possibly opening up the stingers. Could I produce 20+ more hp out of my motor for 1000' runs? Sure.

Another thing to consider is that most 2000' guys do not treat these runs like a dragrace, like they do in most 1000' runs because of the limited distance. They roll into the throttle off the line because there is so much distance to play with. The setups are quite different, and really, when looking at it, you're comparing apples to oranges. But hey, lets compare the speeds anyways:

IMPROVED STOCK 800 - 127.245 mph -- Mach Z

Here are our current 2000' NBSSR records for the same classes:

IMPROVED STOCK 600 - 129.4 mph -- Skidoo
IMPROVED STOCK 700 - 139.9 mph -- Yamaha SRX
IMPROVED STOCK 800 - 141.6 mph -- Mach Z
IMPROVED STOCK 1000 - 149.1 mph -- T-Cat

So, since I guess we don't accelerate much in the last 660 or 1000', look like our records are sitting pretty good :)

Why bother? It is because it is what we have available to us. My trail sled runs mid to high teens in a full trail setup on 96 trail studs in 1000', when it is setup and geared at 127.1mph for 2000' runs. I would only assume that my SRX trail sled would run mid 120's in 1000' with a speed track and chisels, setup for 1000'. To be honest, I would prefer to run 1000' runs, but there aren't any that are close to us, so we run what is available.

Just my 0.02 guys. There are fast guys everywhere.
 
I am sure that we will see speeds exceeding the 180mph mark in two weeks here in the states. We will be running 1320 for 1 weekend to see if we can break Marv Jorgensons record of 190.308mph in 1320ft.

I know full well of the NSSR speeds, i owned that organization from 2002 - 2007. and am still the webmaster for the website www.racenssr.com. I know there is plenty of power in todays improved and mod machines to build speed in 2000' but once you get to the bigger sleds, there isnt much difference.

Look at the open mod classes, Many of our speeds are faster than the canadian counterparts. Where we stop at 1100cc's in mod and 1000cc in prostock, i see up to 1250cc is allowed in canada.

It appears that the improved class machines get the biggest jump in mph going to 2000'.

Now if it wasnt an 18hr drive to your track from ours, i am sure that many of our racers would come up there and accept your invitation. Honestly, i have wanted to go up there and just run to see what its all about but it just hasnt worked out.

Back in early 2000-2001 Ron Bray went up there and he brought 7 sleds and won 6 out of 7 classes, so i think that must say something.

as long as we are all racing, having a good time, that is all that matters. I am not trying to prove a point i guess.

One final question? Do you guys have to weigh in and go thru tech/tear down at each race to verify that no cheating is going on? that is one thing we do and is policed very heavily.

There really are only 2 competitors in the open mod classes. One of which has run over 190 mph in it's first season out.


As for tech, no. There is no tech, and alot of these snowmobiles would not pass.

Worlds fastest? I dunno about that. Fast, for sure, but not the worlds fastest. Some guys just went 188-189 mph in 1320' in the NSSR event today.

there is no record sheet for the trail division as there trying not to discourage the avg. person who just want's to see what his sled does , but you can go thru the events and see the trail division results , Valin had spent an afternoon figuring out the trail records
