I picked up my first sled last week and as expected the carbs need adjustment and I am finding plenty of info out there on how to get this thing tuned in. What concerns me is the fact that the clutch is not moving the least bit with or without the belt on. I took the clutch apart and gave it a good cleaning and still no luck. I would thing that even with a worn spring you would still get some response. Never worked on snowmobiles (allways motorcycles) before so any help would be appreciated.

What color spring is in the clutch? I have been thinking about this all night. True you would get some response even with a worn spring unless it was broke and jammed. But you said you disassembled, you would have noticed that. Maybe the bushing. Want to help but drawing a blank.

After looking at the spring it is green and my understanding is that this is a stiffer spring that nees a higher rpm, next problem is that I can't get it over 4,500 rpm at which time it tops off and backfires. Carbs are clean, getting spark, gapped at .028, mixture screw is one turn out. Any suggestions? Starts first pull.
