chain case oil prob a simple question for most of ya

the oil in my chaincase is alwase 1/8th or a little more over the full mark on the dipstick. its better to have too much then not enough. if he wants to drain a little theres a 10 or 12 mm drain bolt inside the tunnel if he has the proaction chassis

ah ok... just makin sure... cause I know in some toys/machines... to much oil puts more pressure on the seals and gaskets and so on.. and you are more likely to damage them or something in those lines.... I know 1/8 isnt much... but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...

Thanks guys!

Cheers

Since were on this topic. What oil should i use to fill it up. I will be changing the oil sometime this week when my new chain comes in.

The lower gear and the chain are immersed in the chaincase fluid by design overfilling slightly is not a problem. I always run the chaincase oil level a slightly higher than full. In an engine with a wet sump, it is always bad to run a higher oil level than the full mark. In a wet sump engine, having the oil levelt to high can lead to the crankshaft churning up the oil, wasting horsepower, overloading the oil control rings on the pistons and foaming the oil. I use Amsoil synthetic chaincase lube, it flows good at very low temperatures. When you change you chaincase oil, drain it using the drain plug the open the crankcase to clean out the accumulated metal sludge. The drain plug hole is actually about 1/8" higher than the bottom of the case so you will not drain out all the crud.

guys here run most anything from motor oil to ATF, i recommend a synthetic gear lube,M1,Amsoil,etc. i use amsoil severe gear 75w90 being a synthetic it has a low pour point and thin for a gear lube.

but i guess run what you think is Right just change it often is the key.
