While I was riding yesterday for the second time this year, I noticed my speedo quit working. When I got home and pulled the speedo cover I found the bearing was toast. I'm really suprised that my chaincase wasn't broken. The bearing and seal needs replaced. My question is about the driveshaft. Do you think it could have been damaged heat wise and might have hurt it's strength? I was able to tap the outside driver off pretty easy after removing the collar. I am going to anti ratchets and want to know if I should replace it. Whats weird is I pulled the cover and all looked fine preseason, but I didn't repack it. I'm thinking because I had went through some heavy overflow on my first ride and the bearing needed more attention than I gave it. Guess I learned the hard way. Thanks, SOC

If anything you heat treated it making it stronger. LOL
I would replace the bearings and see how that goes. I have a feeling that new bearings will fix it.
