I was trying to back up my track to remove a heat exchange protector that had been sucked in, and noticed that a branch had pierced the steering boot on the left side. I know it will have to be replaced, but how urgent is it?
On a side note, isn't that the way it seems to go. I can't even count the number of threads that start out with " I was doing X, and saw that this rod was bent, this wheel is missing, etc" I have done more work on my sled than I would even consider doing to my car. Thanks for all of the great posts. I would be lost without the info I got from here.

It isn't an urgent issue, but I would at least glue it or duct tape it until you get a replacement.
To me, this is a fix it in summer job. Ride it now, and if you can seal it up until then, you will be fine.
If you ride it as is you might get snow or water on the clutch, but probably not unless you try.
