I was wondering how these work? I was told they work like putting your sled into 2nd at 40 mph....
Did anyone ever use these? Magnum power shift?

I've tried them years ago. They gave up bottom end and gained on top end. I did not care for them. They were 70's technology. That was Arnie Duclo's design. It was used on the old Brutanza snowmobiles.

Are you talking about the Power Shift roller cap sold by Hauck?.... Brutanza had that technology!!!!????

I remember Marley Duclo as one of the three X Polaris guys[engineers] that designed + built the "Bruts"...they had a power block primary clutch.

Maybe I got this wrong....LOL!! I am not sure of Hauck's latest stuff.........but yes on the Brut clutches. I was thinking it was Arnie.......well Marley kind of has the same vowels. Anyways their clutch was later re-packaged and sold in the late '80's and early '90's as the Magnum Gold power shift clutch. I tried one and had a few friends that ran them on the old Phazers and Exciter L/C sleds. Sorry JK if I got on the wrong track here.

They were testing the L/C Brut motors outside a building using a cow tank full of water to pump through the motors for cooling. He was so interested he ended up being one of the first buyers of a 440 L/C triple and soon after a dealer.

I remember seeing one of the first "Bruts" in Beausejour back in the early 70s[I was riding a Moto Ski back then] the sled was absolutely awesome for its time!
You have to admire the inginuity of those guys that started with a blank peace of paper and basically started the liquid cooled sled trend not to mention the Fugi tripple and their own maintenance free[in theory] primary clutch!
Olev Aaen falls into this caliber of snowmobile pioneer as well.
IMO...They were and are truly under appreciated.

My dad explained the 3 cyl. cry was like something they had never heard before..... which lured them out of course. Well he and his brother ventured over with their '72 440 TNT's and got it handed to them good and proper. LOL!!

Joe, if you want to improve your clutching buy a set of 40-10BY heel clickers with a red primary spring. Get your hands on a 48/34 DALTON helix. I'll give you a set up that will be dialed in and far better than what that roller secondary will do for you.

I've got to honestly say that you won't see a lot of difference in top end speed. It will give you much better belt squeeze and performance low end, much stronger mid range, slightly more top end speed and better backshift than the stock clutching. If you are looking for top end speed with a 136" 1 1/4 track and a top end robbing Expert X skid then you are asking for too much. Sorry Joe, you can't have it all.
