this sled was driving down lake and backfired and dies.now a no start. 2000 srx 700. wont start. checked over engine and all is good. you pull the rope to start it will fire and then stop. changed stator, cdi, coils and relay .the sled starts and dies right away. will only run for a second or so.

Unplug the load control relay (white one on leftside kickpanel) start with that it should start!
Are your carbs clean, fresh gas and plugs?

it's more then likely a carb issue as everyone mentioned but did you try bypassing the TORS? after spending a good part of my day trying to start my 98 a few years ago i noticed the throttle cable had pulled out of it's sleeve on top of the cam. when i pushed it back in she fired right up. just a thought.

HARNESS RUB THROUGH ALL THE WAY HERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
I've covered it to death in other posts, but this is the exact same thing that happened to my SRX over and over until I pulled the harness out and saw the 3 bare wires. Steals spark from the ignition long enough to foul a plug. Wiggle stuff around, change the plugs and it's magically fixed...... until you hit another bump just right, and the sled runs like crap and dies again.YAMMIEGOD3:16 said:HARNESS RUB THROUGH ALL THE WAY HERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Had same problem this year on my buddys srx 98 turns out it was reeds and stator getting bad. That was those great carbon fiber v-force 3.

Ya electrical can also play a tricky role in no starts, for example my 01 would only start on highbeam, lowbeam would not start..weird!! its was the cdi must have shorted took 2 weeks to figure that out... back up running now
