v max bogging at low rpm's

I have a '99 vmax sx 500 that hasnt been run much in a couple of years. My girlfriend is now interested in riding it, so I cleaned the carbs and got it running. The problem I am experiencing is that it bogs down when I hit the throttle between 1600 and 3000 rpm's. as soon as it hits 3000, it runs fine. any Ideas as to what the problem could be? HELP! Thanks

Might be a little lean there...

Try blipping the choke on when you are revving it up and see if it runs better and revs good.
