I had the carrier bearing on the front cog setup die. It was a non greaseable setup, I purchased a new housing that is includes a grease fitting, however i'm having a hard time getting the old piece out of the shaft. i've tried drilling it with small drill bits, blowing it out with shop air and picking it out. I am unsure what the adapter looks like original as when i bought the sled the bearing was bad and had wadded up the 90 degree drive unit for the speedo. It annoys me not having a speedo! If i can't figure something out soon i'm going to have to take a piece of nylon and make a bushing and then just broach the 1/8" keyway slot in it. Any ideas or explanations of how the adapter is suppose to look and be would be greatly appreciated.

I have gotten 3 of them out using my MIG welder. I took a piece of TIG rod and put tape around the end, enough so it would not short out to the sides. The very end was exposed. I then clamped it to the stick holder (stick welding on my MIG). I placed ground clamp on the chassis and inserted the rod into the hole. Told my buddie to turn on the welder and then to turn it off. BINGO!! the busted piece welded itself to my TIG rod and pulled right out.

I just drilled and tapped and put a grease fitting on mine.
Did you try a small screw extracter?

I think all the screw extractors are too big to pull the speedo drive out.
I ended up removing the driveshaft and finding a drill bit that was just a little bit smaller than the bushing. I then used some engine oil to keep the bit lubed and drilled very slowly into the bushing. And I mean SLOW. I got about 1/2" into the bushing and it broke free and came out. I tapped in a new one, put a new speedo key in and was good to go.

you can easily drill a hole in housing & install a zirk fitting, just remember to remove the bearing seal on that side, or the grease wont get to it.

And then not to grease it so much that you pop the inner seal off.....
