Does anyone know what this "kit" contains? Is it just a prefilter that fits around the stock foam or what? Thanks.

Doesn't someone know about this?

Yes it fits over the top of the airbox and keeps the snowdust out of it. Made a world of difference on my sled. I used to get iced up when I followed someone to close. I've had one for about 7 seasons and haven't iced up since.

Do you have a part number for your prefilter? I tried looking but couldnt find one.
Just bought one for my viper, got it direct from outerwear from there web site. P/N 20-130403sxviper said:Do you have a part number for your prefilter? I tried looking but couldnt find one.
there are 2 styles availible. the one that goes over the airbox and the one that goes in the ram-air vents on the hood. bro has the hood one and i bought the airbox one for my dad's 2005 sx venture. both work really well, especially when playing in the powder.

How do the hood ones work? I assume they go in the ram-air vents, correct? With a Viper MTN with the closed vents, can I make them work? Thanks a lot.
Also, do you have any pics of the ones that go in the hood?

I had both on my sled and I think the one for the top of the airbox is the most important. If you look at the ram air vents they don't actually go right into the airbox. I'm not saying they don't help though.
I also bought some uncut outerwears material from their website and had custom filters made for the other vents in the hood.

Were your ram air vents closed from the factory? If so, what did you do to open them up?

They are open from the factory but they just dump under the hood, not into the airbox. I was told this is to increase the under hood air pressure which makes about 3 more horsepower.

Well, mine are closed from the factory, so I suppose I'll just have to see about opening them up. Thanks for the info.

I opened mine up. Not much real noticeable hp difference, but I like it better. On a Yammi part microfiche, you just order the part for the ER, which are like vent tubes directing air to the top of the motor. Those stupid plastic ram air covers don't keep snow out anyways from parts of the motor that will cause powder bog, and I think they are worthless. If I was going out west I would get some Organza foam and plug the holes back up easy enough temporarily.....

Oh, and I use the Outerwears prefilter cover over the Air Box, but I have never noticed any powder bog on my sled even without it.....

I'm thinking though, if I buy the outwears kit that goes into the forced air holes, and routed it to the airbox myself, it would help. Anybody got any pictures of the hood vents? Thanks.

HOLY COW, I went to order one from their site, UPS gets 10.50 to ship that prefilter, needless to say I didn't order one.....Not a happy camper...
usps is cheaper. might take a week to get to you but still faster than when they shipped mine up to canada. 3 weeks before i saw it.

When I went to order, UPS was the only shipping option Outwears offered.....So I have no idea.
i called and ordered over the phone and they had no problem shipping it to me usps.
