Hello all members.

I do restore a 76 GP440, i do need decals for it. Can someone out there help me?
It is a 76 with 8A1 vin number..Do also need a exhaust muffler for it.

Have heard that somone have maked reproduction graphics for it, but didnt remember where. I do also buy OEM if anyone have.

Regards

Gunnar

Hi Gunnar
I collect the hydraulic "twin" version and expect it used the same exhaust
system ,,,they rust out at the "T" to the tailpipe section...I have a number
of bad ones...but not sure if I have a good one that isn't needed.I have
not gone over my 76 and 77 PR yet....on the "to do" list..
Decals are different than mine......Have someone coming on Sun to pick
up some parts for a 76 GP and will try and ask him about decals.
Hope someone with a great muffler contacts you as I see by the address
that freight will be more than the part....I expect that's not Norway in
northern MN ..
Ron

Thank you for your answere. It is Norway at the other sidt of the atlantic:-) yes do know about the shipping, but shipping isnt a problem for me.

I did se at a site in canada the decals. www.orps.ca but did not get a answerw about the decals. It is a picture of 76 gp reproduction decals there.

Gunnar ...I may have enough mufflers for my projects that I could part with one..
Still need to confirm the 76 and 77 PR440 are the same as yours. Did
you get the decals from ORPS ???? They are about 1/2 hour from home
but may not be interested in sending a bigger parcel as well ???
My wife thinks she would like to visit Norway sometime but hasn't
suggested it again in the last 7 years....Looked into taking the "postal
mail" ship cruise up the coast ..
I'll check Yamaha web site for number
Ron

They sent me the price, but have not heard anything form them on two days. So might be as you say, they dont ship, but they should have told that they dont ship then...
So i still wait for answere.

Think you shold listen to your wife, this is a avesome trip: here is a link: http://www.hurtigruten.us/?country=US

I can look at parts number if they are the same at the muffler, also here in my neighborhood one is listing a gp440 today, shall check it out.

This "hurtigruten" cruise ends and return here where im living, almost as far north and east your are comming in Norway..

This the right name are"Costal Steamer"= Hurtigruten

Did bought this gp440 know, but the hood was black..Else i did get two exhaust system, and a lot of parts:-)
It had a worked drive shaft, so could use different types of secondary clutch on it..?? will se when i get it.. All i had too do was to drive it on my trailer, maybe i was lucky with this deal??

This PR440 that you have, they was newer sold here in Norway, just like the 78srx440B and 81srx440e. But we had a GP440 in 78 here.. Will find the three first digits in VIN nr in nest post..

I think the fellows at ORPS have day jobs as well..
I looked on US corp site and it shows
76 and 77 GP440....muffler 8A1-14710-01-00
76 PR440........8A1-14710-00-00
they also used diff manifold #....77PR isn't shown to check
Look the same but maybe someone can check if they substitute
or had diff baffles to do with power and noise ????
I only have a 77 GP440 frame that a hydraulic drive and matching motor
had been installed and maybe the muffler as well..(or not)..
.
I thought I had the only fluid drive Yam for years , but taking them to
shows helped me find the hidden ones and the internet found the rest.
.
Have around 26 drive units from various years .. 18 are in frames , maybe
10 could run with a fight , 7 decent and 3 in great shape.

.
ignore the chevy pic....it was a BAD day but no sleds were harmed.
Make sure to secure the sleds well..
This should link to some pictures and you will see the 76 looks diff.
Drove about 4,500 mile in 11 days collecting 3 from members of this
site and 2 others from acscc site...and saw every private collection
we could along the way..

Did get answere today, then i have all for my gp440..

8F4 is 77 Gp440 European edition
8F8 is 78 Gp440 Canadian edition
8F9 is 78 Gp440 European edition

Decals will be shipped, and the Gp that i bought for two days ago did have all i needed incl two mufflers and engines.

That's great you got a good muffler ...I'm suprised they list a 78 GP440
for north America.....but I'm convinced they were using up parts from previous
years production as they had updated the other models to Alm. tunnels
and front mounted engines ....
Maybe someday we will visit Norway , but I won't need to bring a muffler.
Tough to get in a carryon bag....
Good luck with your project
Ron
