If you have an srx...check your skid for cracks..especially up front W-arm I think they call it where your shock mounts to all along the welds check for cracks...I did and was amazed of how many cracks there were...And locktight all your bolts shock bolts wheel bolts ....I had 2 bolts come out on the weekend and broke the bottom of the shock mount and put grooves in my track..lucky I had a spare skid and shocks and didn't ruin anything else...So don't talk about checking it over go have a look and let me know what you find...It may surprise you... ;-) Happy Trails, and Ride Safe...

I am constantly checking mine,I did a re-enforcement of my w-arm last year..so far it is good.Actually checked my front shock and it was loose due the metal bushing being worn down.I have the bearing type of bushing in it,not the stock one were the metal bushing goes thru 2 plastic ends.So I removed new bushings and bearings from a center shock I had spare. Now the shock does not rattle any more. Will have to order extra of those, they are not expensive either. Also put on new hyfax and loosened track some. Now the track spins really easy..should pick up some mph now.

Do you have any pics of where you re-inforced it?? I'm planning on doing the same but the way I was going to do it..The rubber stoppers would have to go...and I'm pretty sure they should be there...I was going to plate across the bottom and top after I re-inforce the welds...

do a search, there are some pictures a few boards back.

The first thing I do when I buy my SRX's is pull the skid/replace the left driveshaft bearing. Haven't found a good bearing yet.... The 2000 SRX I just picked up had the telltale cracks on a few w-arm welds too.
Redid my skid last year, W arm was cracked thru on one side, and the welds around the shock mount were cracked. I reinforced it using instructions found on here. Welds were broke on the rear arms too. Bought a Maxx long traveled rear shock, and got a used Viper front shock. Got a set of bushings from Pioneer and shimmed them tite using Betheviper's instuctions. I also added grease zerks in several areas. I stole the roller bearing out of my old shock for the rear shock and it tightened it up too. Gave it a black, and gold powder coat job to make it look stock.
My sled rode totally different! I was going to swap out the skid for an Edge, but now I feel no need to. I used Hauck adjustable front shock brackets set to the middle hole to adjust the ride height.
One more thing I used Polaris wheels (5.38" vs 5.25") to cut down on hyfax wear; big difference! This is the first year I didn't have to automaticly change hyfax. I had to mod the bushings to work, but well worth it!
