so today i took out my 98 srx 700. the trails where hard packed. i found when i would punch it , it would rev to 9000 rpm! i have 144 studs and thought that would help bring the rpms down i was wrong.

i did a search on clutching but my pri clutch is a comet not the stock yamaha so i dont know what to do any help guys?

Yes give Comet a call... They have a chart to reference your sled, srx700,, with the proper weights and spring to use that will get your rps where they need to be,, around 84-8500 rpm.......

If it were me i would hunt ebay or this website for the stock clutch. Seems to be much more info out there on how to tune the stock clutch. Its very easy to change.

ya i was thinking about a new clutch but i dont realy have the money for a new one.

I wonder if my secondary is sticking??

it over revs to 9000 then drops down to 8500 or so i just want to get some more jump out off the line

clutch

Microbelmont used to be real good at setting up the comet clutches. They were very helpfull on mine.

You need to go to a weight that is about 3-4 grams heavier. they use a polaris/arctic cat solid weight. Take out the weight ; weigh it & go heavier 3-4 grams.

Give Spanky's powersports, inc. a call... (1-800-230-9258 ),, . That's where I purchased my 108exp for a ski-doo sled,,, 670HO. They set me up with weights and a spring and rpms were spot on....

today when i was on the lake i found if i was going wide open around 100 mph the rpms where a bit low 8000??? should this be higher?

Yes you want to be around 8500,,,, but you don't want it to rev over that also...... What type of belt are you running?

Might wanna check pv for pullthru. Weights should be about 56 grams in the primary to get 8500 on most set ups.
