Well... My pv's where due for a cleaning... and checked through the pv hole to see the piston wash and to see if theres any blow by... I can see some light scuffing happening and blow by is happenin.... dont got the money to re do the top end until next season

I am happy that i caught it before any other harm was done...but still a bummer..


one quick question.... When I took out my pv's the oil on them was white... has that happened to anyone.... our temps have been going nuts around here from -10C to +3 degrees which causes alot of condensation..

also... I noticed that the top of my pistons are "washed" and read up that it can be because of a rich idle... however i started it up...let it idle for about 1 min since i was checking the pv servo motor makin sure it was working right... so should I be worried about the ilde piston wash? it never was able to get to proper operating temp before i shut it down

sorry to hear that.Season just starting here with the new snow we are getting.I will finally be able to ride on a better base then grass and dirt.Good lick.

Ill try and get some good pics up... probably tomorrow hopefully...

well from what I was told there is only around 4000-5000 km's on the rebuilt engine...


Also... when I check the top end... do i have to replace the top end gaskets? if they are not torn? and how/where do I drain the coolent so i can take off the heads...


dont think it can be too much out of whack... the sled was tuned by bendersrx(previous owner) and the jetting was refered by mrviper... and carbs where cleaned thoroughly by me and I made sure they where very clean especially after reading all the threads about the carb problems...

But yea... I will get some pics up tomorrow asap
 
some coolant can be drained just enough to remove the heads,there O rings so they can be cleaned inspected and reused.

that sucks big time man, looks like we wont get to go out for a tour this winter , just means more time for you to help me dial in my clutch kit ha jk man
 
thanks daman.... ill check that out... and get on it tonite prob... have a few beers with my buddys and wrench on it... pipes are already off...so just need the heads off.... whats the torque for when I put them back together?

Haha Jordan.... dont worry... if the guys on here check it out and says its good to go... well be going for a ride!

lol... well get that clutch kit going soon!... once you get the helix in... well set a time... man i want to go for a rip on the sled soooooooooooo bad right now

well head O rings can be reused,along with base gaskets,hard to say on the water rail gaskets,mabye if they come off clean

lmao.... possibly... theres always that chance haha...

Alrite... got all 3 heads off... not the greatest scene.... 1st cylinder (clutchside) piston is melting exhaust side... and 3rd piston is same thing but even worse... the 3rd cylinder has a bad scratch in it... dont think i can hone it out... prob will need a new cylinder or get it redone... pics are coming up...
 
airbox isnt gutted already looked for that lol... was the first thing i looked at before cleaning the carbs... carbs where thoroughly cleaned... dont know why that would be it... made sure everything was good and clean and no blockage...


this sled is going the same way my first 00 srx went.... how are you guys pushing that many km's! did everything I could after reading up here to prevent this...

damn pics are too big... can I email em to some 1 to post em? moms laptop is slow as all hell and takes forever to go through photobucket...

This is the 3rd cylinder... this one was the worse one... but had the best wash compared to the other two...

This is the middle cylinder... Forget the finger thats there... my buddy was talking and pointed while i took the pic... this one seems to have no problem.. only has wear mark on the side of the cylinder that are not very noticable... got to look at it the right way to see some up n down marks...
