I'm working on my buddies 02' Viper with around 6000 miles on it. The speedometer and odometer are not working. Everything else on the gauge is working fine. I checked all the connections and they are good. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Are the headlights nice and bright, and dont dim and everything working well? Possibly an issue with the stator.

Everything works great......but the speedo.
It was suggested that the speed sensor might be the problem.

did you get an answer? My '02 has the exact same problem. I checked the wire harness but there we no breaks in it.
sorry for bringing up an old post guys, but I am having the same issue as the post and can't figure out the problem. My speedo isn't working, bearings are good and I can't find a short in any wires. Everything is working great except the speedometer. Can I OHM the sensor????

Is the speedo displaying zero or just blank ?
It just shows zero, but sometimes at idle the speed will go from 0-5 or bounce around. If I put 100 miles on the sled, the speedo will capture about 15 miles of it or so.
I would check the sensor down on the axle, it should show differnt voltage as the driveshaft spins, you could eaily check by using a digital voltmeter and see if the voltage changes as the driveshaft moves. Obviously youd need to have the sled on a stand and rotate the track with engine running.
Sounds good. I'll give that a try. I am going to OHM the sensor as well to see what type of resistance it has now and make sure it's not an open circuit. I have had two dealers tell me they have never sold a sensor before.
