crank bearing failure (viper)

Just bought 02 viper, 5400 miles. Just got back from up north (philips wi) ran flawless!Motor hasn't been touched + fogged every year by previous owner.But hear so much about crank failures. What causes it? Should I be worried? Thinking about getting another one,couldn't get the wife off it! Could have worse problems, Thanx!

I would highly recommend you go out and measure your oil cable gap and come back and post it..

pull rubber sheave apart to expose the joint then pull it apart and measure gap "a" in millimeters.

measure you oil to gas ratio next ride. You want to be around 50:1

Don't know? Haven't gone through a full tank yet. How do you check how much oil you use?

Fill it up with both gas and oil, then drive and fill it up again and measure how much you get in there and calculate :-)

for oil, mark a line in the narrow part of the neck and fill it to there. It gives a better reading.
