I got this last year sled thru a bud of mine. it only had 500k on the odometer and it was cheap. had blown pistons which I have replaced and it runs fine now. Have traced THAT problem to the former owner using the wrong plugs in it. I had though maybe it had an air leak in the crank but I have ruled that out now. My recent issue has to do with the fuel and oil lines.
I was replacing the old, stiff fuel and oil lines with new ones and I broke a fitting(and on a sunday when all the shops are closed) I managed to find one from a boneyard nearby tg. It is a double t-fitting that is on the main fuel line from the tank before it goes into the fuel pump. There are 2 lines that connect to this double tee-fitting and they come from the oil pump(I replaced these lines as well). Well in my haste I neglected to pay attention to which line went to which nipple on the tee-fitting. One of the oil lines comes off the front of the oil pump and the other oil line comes off the side of the oil pump. Both lines run to this double tee-fitting on the main fuel line. I am not sure if it matters which oil line connects to which nipple on this tee-fitting. looking at it it would not seem to matter but I want to be sure.
Anyone have one of these beasts out there that might want to lift there hood and let me know how its supposed to look??????
This seems like an odd way to inject oil into the system as my other sleds(96 venture 485cc :94 bravo) both inject the oil directly into the carbs as do most other snowmobiles. Any ideas there or has someone just got creative in their repairs on this machine before I got to it lol?????
Also I want to install an inline primer on the fuel line. similiar to the type of primer found on small outboards. Where along the main fuel line would be best to insert one????????? I was thinking of placing it in the section of fuel line after the tee-fitting I mention above, and before the fuel line enters the fuel pump as it is the only area that has room to accomodate it. Any ideas?
I have tried to find a service manual for the 410cc engine but havent had any luck. I am not looking for a freebee(though that would be nice) and am willing to pay for one. Anybody got a copy for sale??????
I know these are not yer performance sled of choice but they get me to where I want to go and they are tough and I am sure there must be plenty of these ut sleds out there.
I would love to hear from any of you that own/run one!!!
Maybe I should just disconnect the oiler system and run mixed feul!!!! The easy fix I know but I like the oil injection I have in the other sleds I ride.
Thanks to all who may have any ideas!
