My 99 srx 600 is loosing top end, can't go over 80 k/hr. When I come to a stop and idle down, it goes away and then its back to normal. Doesnt happen all the time, intermittent any ideas? 
Your exhaust valves could be sticking or disconected. When's the last time you pulled them and had a look. Also, when was this last time you checked your belt deflection.

Servio moter for the valves could also be starting to fail.Will cause the same to happen.
