I just got back from the MVSS in Waconia, MN. This years event featured John Deere but I thought I would mention the drags. I went down and watched them for awhile and it was fun watching all the old Yamaha Iron clean house. In one of the 440 classes it was an all Yamaha final. They were mostly the '77 factory race machines. They were dominant then and still are. I talked with a guy that just sold his vintage 1977 SRX 433 L/C for $6500. It was 285 lbs. and had a solid 100HP. Now that's an incredible power to weight ratio for sure. I thought it was kind of funny watching all the guys with Polaris and Arctic Cat jackets moaning and groaning and shaking their heads. Ahh the good old days of 2 stroke smoke!! I took my two young girls there and they thought it was pretty cool.

Thanks, I would love to go to some shows around here, but my little boy is too young to take yet.

I found out today from a guy I know that's really into this stuff that the Kawi shown in the above photo is a clone. All the factory race Kawi's were crushed when they pulled the pin. In fact their old R & D center is about 5 miles west of where I work. They buried all the machines there back in the early '80s.

If you want to totally get immersed into the vintage stuff check this website out. He has every sled from the vintage era ever made listed and the brochures for each make and model........Incredible!!

That Shark clone belongs to a very good friend of mine. He dimensioned this sled from tons of pictures of the leafer sharks. This is a very fine piece of work that he originally built to race. 100% of the work was done by himself. You dont want to know how many hours he has in just the hood alone. It is VERY close to the original beasts.

I think it looks great. Could have fooled me for a real one. I guess I heard that Kawi story a long time ago, but it had slipped my mind until the guy brought it up again.
