My hand warmers and thumb warmers will turn on and off and hand warmers I believe are changing temp with rheostat, but the thumb warmer will just about give you a blister through your glove. Anyone had any experience as to where I should begin to look?

Mine does the same thing, and the only thing I can figure out is the set of knobbers I installed are drawing some of the heat out of the bars??? It started doing this right after I put those things on. Did you install afermarket hooks or knobbers? The rheostat does work with the thumb warmer on mine, the grips just don't heat up like the thumb does.

if one or both hand warmers are not working, then the thumb warmer gets over heated... I had this on my sled.. I replaced the hand warmers and every thing is working again..

Well other than a 3" riser, my handle bar, grips, etc. are all factory. I was wondering if there is a separate, stand alone resistor for the thumb warmer that has failed allowing a full 12 volts (or what ever they run) to it, and if so if it's part of the heating element or separate/inline some where. My 99' 700 MM is ok so far. Or if just a portion of the rheostat knob assembly is failing. May try swapping parts around to try and diag.

we took the handles off the rear of a venture, and the front warmers ran so hot it would burn my hands through my glove

Probably a resistance difference on the venture. May need to replace what ever resistor it originally had with one for regular one person sled.
