Hey went to go and start the SRX today since its been sitting for awhile and leaned on the bars a little but and they moved. So I wiggled them a little bit and looked down at the post and seen it was broke. So anyways the post broke all the way off trying to get it into the garage. Do you have to pull the motor to change it? Looks like from just pulling the carbs.

If your going to take the shaft out all together then I do believe the engine will have to be pulled or at the very least rolled ahead because there's a tie rod on then end that needs to be removed from the shaft.

i have a 02 viper post that will bolt right in and they don't break like the 98 srx ones, $25 plus shipping if you want it let me know thanks

you will have to get a post from a srx not a sxr try to get a 2000 and newer the have litle gussets welded uder the flange to prevent them from breaking I just did this on my 98 msrx you can do it without pulling the clutch and motor but it is a pain in the a-- youll have to loosen the mounts lift motor and fight it. its easier just to pull the motor and ck the harness while its out thats what i did now i have functional dash light and gauges

Sxr wont work, it has slightly different layout/stops. Just replaced my post wed night... w/o fully removing the motor... pain in the ***. Do yourself a favor and pull it. It will cut back on all the unecessay cussing and frustation. Really not that big of a deal.

can someone PM me if they have a SRX steering post available? mine didnt break, she bent after tagging a pine tree. it wont bend back. its hard to heat it up, without melting wires, cables or tubing. that was my first idea.
