I need to mount my primary clutch back onto the crank and
wanted to know how tight to I crank this puppy?
Does anyone have the Yamaha recomended torque setting for this bolt?

Thanks,
:yam:

Tighten to 86 ft pounds..loosen it off & re-tighten to 43 ft pounds.

Ok... I'll do that.. but, why? What does tightening it to 86ft lbs first do?
I am re-using the original bolt in case I should have mentioned this in my original post.

The 86 ft pounds properly snugs the clutch onto the crankshaft end.

I always hate doing that initial 85 foot pounds, always feels to me like its stripping out the bolt, thats a lot of torque on that thing

I don't know why Yamaha says to tighten it to 85. I am running a P-85 on my SRX and I torque it to 45ftlbs run it and recheck. With no problems.

If you don,t snug the primary clutch onto the crankshaft 1st it might spin seize on the crank end & you will not be able to remove the primary.
