Found a set of 7tooth extroverts to fit my viper mtn. Am planning on installing them for more cooler to track clearance at the front heat exchanger when i change up tracks. I noticed everyone else is runnging 8th. Any reason why? Is there any downside to running the smaller 7tooth? (other than gearing, of course i will have to change that to keep my ratios half normal).

We are running 7 tooth extroverts, if your 7 tooths are 3.0 pitch that means they are 21 inches around or 6.69 inches in diameter

If you have 8 tooth 2.52 drivers right now then you have 20.16 inches around or about 6.42 inches in diameter.

Therefore going from 8t 2.52 pitch to 7t 3.0 pitch you actually loose about 1/8in of clearance. BUT if you have 7t 2.52 pitch your looking to put in, thats 17.64 inches around or about 5.61 in diameter giving you not quite 1/2 inch more clearance.

If you follow all of that.

O ya sorry, i have the stock drivers right now. and have ordered 7t 2.52 pitch extros. so i can put on a 159 track, probly a 16 wide and havent decided yet what height, have found everywhere from 2 to 2.3 inch, was worried a 2.3 might be too much traction for the ol girl. Was thinking of trying a Camoplast polaris series 4 track but dont know anyone with one so am curious how they are for traction durability etc.

Thanks for the info though, thats great to know!! I appreciate it!!

7th will create a bit more rolling resistance from the tight radius of the track curving around the driver. no need to go to 7's unless you plan on running more than a 2".

I agree with Bolin22. I would not go down to the 7 tooth 2.52. You would be better off staying with the 8 tooth stockers. Even with Extros you will be pretty tight on the track to keep in on a small 7 tooth driver.

If you aren't planning to run a taller track dont change drivers. It's not worth it. Like the others stated it will be a little harder to get the track to turn around the smaller driver.
