Ripples in weights.

I recently purchased a set of used 8CA weights and they have small ripples near the tip. There are three on each weight. They are not deep enough to be called grooves but you can definatly feel them with your finger tip and see them when you rotate them under a light. What causes this and are they useable or junk?

both my sets of 8ca's and 8ab's have what your talking about, except mine start from the engagement flat and run the whole way of the curvature. just the way they are i guess. i've never noticed problems w/the shifting or anything.

Junk..or you can grind them smooth…compensate with the secondary..

Cause..bad harmonics…

Thanks for the input guys. I did put them in and do a couple of test runs. I'll leave them be for now untill my 2 speed heelclickers show up.
