Thinking of putting the 8'' rear wheels on our srx improver and just wondering where you guys got your parts to do it. Want to keep all four wheels in the back.

Best way is using the rear idlers from a 1978 SRX 440. Cut axle spacers for properly placement. Did it on my Viper and it worked awesome. Now running this 4 wheel setup on my APEX GT.

You can get these wheels from Kimpex, Gamma or Yamaha.

How big are these wheels?

MMP claims a 5-7 hp gain on a track dyno with a 8" billet wheel. Not sure what size they started with though. The bigger the contrast the more power gain. My viper has 7" wheels already, not sure how much going to 8" would help. Does anyone know if a 9" will fit?

http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=39233 i got nines on mine but it not 121 and stock height any more. avid axle and idaho percision machine wheels. not sure on the gains but it does seem to roll alot eaiser.

Guys you need to balance your skid. Stock yamaha idlers with 9" rears means the rears are going to lift the entire skid from the back. Likewise Polaris idlers and stock rears give a tiped rail type profile. Polaris idlers (or skidoo) and an 8" rear mean the skid rides flat.

Any place that sells aftermarket wheels also sells the hardware to get the proper center height for the rear axle if you are making that big of change. Just wondering how big I can go without needing that hardware.

thats why you use a offset rear axle to keep all wheels at the same height from the slides.7" to 9" you need a 1" offset .

i own a 03 viper and am looking for some advice in the freedom axle dept. I emailed the company to get some info but no response, (mountain machine). Can anyone explain how it all works? bigger wheels, less wheels,? All i know is that i ran into a guy who had a freedom axle on his sled, he could puch his sled and the thing rolled down the trail! I WANT THAT!!!! less drag = better performance!
