Quick question, Did yamaha ever build a mountain sled that came with a 159"track? Thanks.
What were the track options for the Apex Mt. sleds?

no on the 159. early 4 strokes had a 151 with 2.52 pitch, then went to the 3" pitch drivers and 153 or 162.

I believe the Apex Mtn only came in a 162" 3.0pitch.

had to laugh at myself the other day, after my post i ran into some info while looking for something else, yamaha actually have a production sled with a 156, but i didnt pay attention as to what model or year. so add a 156 to the list of mountain tracks, wont say its a mountain sled till i run across the model again.

It is but I have been daydreaming. What kind of pipes did that black viper have in it before it got parted out? I may need some info. I have a set of benders that I am gonna put in your old sled.

He had SLP's on it. I would be careful with the Benders because Greg(the guy with the parted out sled) had them on another Viper and it was very tempermental with the benders. Maybe a 159" Polaris track would be the way to go for a stretch. Doing that to my 144 has crossed my mind a few times.

151 is still a good all around track, but we have found both the 156 and the 159 with the 2" lugs gives you that little bit of extra that is sometimes needed. hard to make a decision between the two as for performance, but either is superior to the 151, in the polaris style tracks.

I have been thinking of going 159" if I buy a different track but I agree that the 151" is a good track.

mtn tracks
if you do go longer stay away from the stock Maverick tracks unless you want some thing cheap to try. I put a 162 on my viper and the first year i had one given to me so i tried it. no good. next year i bought a new take off 162 challenger and it was night and day difference. if you do go that long I would suggest gearing down. I just put mine down to 19/42 and it made a world of difference.

Thanks for the tip. I have custom clutching for it and it has been re-geared too. 151Viper did a good job setting it up.
Yes definitely like said earlier, the Maverick tracks are junk, I have one on my Apex and it works diecent but then lugs are getting bent over. The Challenger tracks work well. The biggest lug you can fit in your Viper is 2" with 8 tooth 2.52pitch or 7 tooth 3.0 pitch. If you get 7 tooth 2.52pitch you should be able to fit 2.25" track and maybe a 2.5"(maybe).
