Well almost out of no where the SXR used 2 quarts of oil in less than a tank of fuel!! Running boggy of course but didnt foul a plug. So i got home and right away made sure that my cable was seated (yes it was) so i ruled that out.......Then next step was to check cable gap and notice that it was only set at 19mm (spec i believe is 21-23mm) so i will set that tomorrow and see what happens.... hoping that its not the oil pump failure issue. Im thinking that it most likely is because that is a SHIT load of oil to be using up and the sled does have 5500 miles! At $25-$30/gallon for oil i better get it dialed quickly!! Any comments or ideas???

Bad oil pump...have to change it. Ive had two go out on buddies and my own sled. They drink a lot of oil when that happens.

As strange as it sounds, the excessive oil is actually bad for the engine. It creates a nasty lean condition from so much oil displacing the gasoline and can actually cause engine failure.

After everything else is adjusted set pump to 23-24mm and try before tearing into a new pump, your just loosing some time if thats not the problem and the pump does turn out to be bad no big deal.

After further review.... Found that my oil cable is bad at the oil pump end....WAY outa wack! Oil pump was held 1/4 open at no throttle?!?! New cable should get her dialed!
