vmax600 vs SX600R..the bluemonsters

Scott's v-max is really runing well today. It is because I worked on the clutches for him. That v-max surprises me..it has wicked pull at launch, will lift the ski's no problem and accelerates pretty damn sweet. But my SXR has a 1 1/4 track vs his stock track.I have over 12,000 km's on motor, his has like 7000 km's.But basically even, all depends on the launch..the holeshot. He is one happy camper with the v-max he bought for $1000 for sure.

Jeff we were there around noon.Hit the Rat River later and then hit the St.Agathe Motor in for lunch to.Was a great day over all.Going riding again tomorrow with my nephew again..Time is right, weather is good..have to ride.

Yep . We put on anothe 50 miles this aft. Went to St Agathe then down the river to St Adolphe then down the diversion to IDC then on the trail to back St Adolphe and then home. Got about 800 miles so far. Were you drivin tomorrow? Maybe we can meet up somewhere.

Probably along the Red again. My nephew has the day off, maybe he will try and get his friend to come out with his sled.We were at the St.Agathe motor in at 12:30 for lunch and left there at about 1:15 back towards St.Adolphe.There were quads climbing them steep hills in St.Adolph.Crazy azz's..didn't make it all the way up,got stuck on the top edge, didn't flip back.Put in reserve and backed down the hill..loll

Watched a quad get stuck trying to drive out of the diversion beside Amazing Corn. Four tires are not that good in deep snow. Man did the quads ever make it ruff on the river now. :whine:

I was running on the river today also, My Vmax 600 is running strong too! I hit 140 km/h and it was still pullin hard, I love this little sled! There was guys doing oval track racing on dirtbikes and the guys from Sledwerx racing doing 1000' radar runs, It was an awesome day to be out. Nice to see the older sled giving a licking to the newer machine on the video. Out of curiosity Bluemonster, what did you do to your nephews clutch any setup tips for me?

not nephews, but stepson.Gave clutches a good cleaning and checking everything. It originally had 50 wrap on red spring, but went to 80 wrap.

Hey vmaxer, you wouldnt happen to know what size main and pilots your running by any chance and what your elevation is, im just trying to see what some other vmaxes are jetted at. I've read they come jetted pretty fat from the factory. My sled was running very strong today but she overrevs a bit but the clutches seemed to be functioning great after the cleaning and new belt.

where exactly are you going when you say diversion? It the floodway right?I have gone from the Control gates up to Hwy 59 before..it that the area you mean???

I deserve a kick in the pants for this, but I have never checked what mains I have!!!! I know I know, I should check but absolutely everything on this sled was stock when I got it so my guess would be 156.3 mains. I have raised my needle clip though cause it was really fat from 1/4 to half throttle. It still runs rich and my piston wash is on the heavy side but I don't like to run on the edge of safe, I know I can hit the lake or trail in any temp and be good. I will be taking the carbs apart this week as my GYT pipes will be here early in the week, So I will let you know for sure what all my settings are/will be when I jet up for the pipes. I really have to get some pictures up once it's done, I've done some custom work to it. I made a screen kit for it, drop brackets, a 1'' rise on the bars, handlebar hooks, LED tail light, CAT skis, etc.

Mine revs out pretty quick too, but once the secondary drops, it shifts very well despite my worn buttons. I know stock says rev out at 7650+/- 300 RPM, mine is at 8000 for sure but it goes like a scalded cat so I'm not touching anything!!! My biggest problem is hooking up, a 3/4 lug and 96 studs is ok, but I will be going to 144 studs next year and hope for a better bite.

hey vmaxxer, what is your oil cable setup at? Scotts is at 33mm..the way he got it.And I measured oil and gas the other day.Put in 500 ml oil and 11 liters of gas.I figured out that is approx 22:1 ratio, yet the sled flies.... :o| What is stock setting,is it the same as most of the sleds 22 to 24mm?His sled starts basically in 1 to 3 pulls to,good starter. He just loves the sled.He has a chance to get pipes cheap from his bud at the Yamaha dealer, they are clearing some parts out.

I don't know the actual mm measurement. I have it setup exactly as the manual shows it. The marks on the adjuster dial? are just slightly offset, its good to start in one or two pulls also and does not smoke more than any other 2 stroke. I'm kind of wondering why I bought the pipes, the machine is working so well now I don't think I need more giddyup. I wish I could be more helpful to you guys with actual facts and numbers, I'm the kind of guy that if something is working well I don't mess around with it. I do inspect the sled overall before every ride though make sure a bearing isn't on its way out or missing, loose bolts. I'm glad your stepson likes his sled, they are easily the best looking sleds of thier day.

It seems that somebody jetted it down a bit as im running 14?. mains but the plugs i took out didnt look lean but who knows maybe i will post another question to see what anyone else is jetted at. Considering I have a stock lug track this thing launches pretty hard I was right beside my stepdads SRX till about 45 mph then he flew by but I was outlaunching his sx600r by a bit and hes got a 1.25 ripsaw!!! so far I love this thing!!!
