i would like a stiffer shock in the rear of my phazer, im heavy. im like 210, the machine is just for deep powder play and off trail. i think my shock is worn out anyway. what are my options? i found a kimpex gas shock, think its any good?

wow, i would like just the opposite. are the rear shocks nitrogen charged. i would like one that is worn out...

I'm heaver than you (230) and I replaced both shocks on my 86' with OEM parts. I also replaced the torsion springs and that seemed to make the most difference. I use the sled the same way you do mostly off trail and the new springs and shocks work ok. I am interested to see if gas shocks would make much difference since there's only 6" of travel back there. If you try the gas shock let us know how it goes.

I think Yamaha shocks are better than Kimpex - they are not high quality. I do not know about the Phazer, but some of Yamaha's original equipment shocks were gas shocks.

For your weight, the stock springs are good. You know how to crank the cams up right? Set them so that you bottom out on the biggest bumps.

you lost me...i dont know very much about suspension, as i have never realy changed anything about it. can i stiffen the springs some how? ill probably buy new yamaha shocks instead of kimpex.

The outside spring ends are on a plastic square thing. If you rotate the square 180 deg it will stiffen the spring. The inside end of the spring is on a triangle plastic pice that can be rotated for 3 stiffness settings. I dont think I explained that very well. Take a look at it and you should see what I mean.
