Whats the best way to get an 02 viper up to speed with a stock SRX 700? clutching, pipes both? any other secrets to really tune it in?
Three secrets to make a Viper as fast as an Srx.
Pipes, pipes and pipes.
Pipes, pipes and pipes.

but your gas mileage will suffer a lot more..so you decide..more money for gas then....just get an SRX and be done with it.
itll take more than triple pipes the srx is not just a viper with triple pipes the motor itself is differant

an srx is sneeky fast even with pipes on the viper your hands will be full. The srx works and runs good when you get pipes on a viper you have some drivibilty isseus and fuel milege.I had to learn to respect the sled ive got and if i wont to run with a srx i have to buy one.
srx pipes, recut head, 2001 cdi box, stock muffler, bypass temp sensor and rejet, more power than a srx, better milage than a piped viper and no KABOOM

I met guy who had an SRX mota in a Viper - don't know any technicals about it but nothing looked strange... so yes, it is possible

All depends on the time you are willing to spend on the sled... ;-) -see signature, lol, BETHEVIPER Special...

Its possible and viper motor is ported a bit more agressive and will make more power then srx with the same pipes.
It is possible to get a viper to keep up to an srx, you just need to have everything perfect and with the age of sleds these days i would be willing to bet that the guy on the srx wont be as tunned as you.
-replace every bearing in the sled
-loosen your track as much as possible without ratcheting
-make sure your skis and skid is lined up
-replace your chaincase oil with atf
-go to lightweight brake rotor, cluch plates.
-go to polaris idler wheels and 7.5 oversized srx wheels
-make sure you have a good speed track nothing bigger then 1" lug, if the srx has 1.25" track it will slow him down.
-make sure your clutching is spot on perfect.
-use the taller windy it will pull better top end
You want to make sure you have no drag, and have everything perfect to have the best chance.

Im in Darien NY, about halfway between Buffalo and Rochester just south of the Thruway... I havent tuned it in much yet so you are just putting a wooping on a 120hp stock sled ;-)
considering they all start out the same basic chasis(srx, vipers , sxr,and such)it is very possible and shouldnt be hard at all for any one with good basic mechanical abilities. From being a honda guy scavenging other hondas for motors, the one thing ive figured out is generally speaking japanese oems tend to use parts across a whole lineup(with the exception of very special vehicles). If i were to guess as far as mounting the motor itslef you would just need the complete srx engine obviously as well as everything that attaches to it(pipes air box harness etc.)but more importantly the motor mounts. I would think you would want the srx cowl for the larger forced induction setup as yamaha intended but that is prob not necessary plus your prob looking for sleeper effect if you ride a viper.

Yes... different plugs... 01 and 02 SRX are the same as the Vipers... 00 SRX is its own special shape

You didn't specify what year SRX. I am assuming a 2000-2002. They were faster as we all know. My Viper handles most 98-99 SRX's unless they have had work done to them.

ok just so I understand completely what ya'll are talking about. If I were to drop a 01 SRX 700 motor (Vforce3 in it) reeds into my 02 viper chasis it will all bolt up easily??
And if I run stock srx triple pipes and everything else is from the viper. (carbs, airbox, everything else)...what will happen?
What changes will need to be made?

LOTS.... Viper with triple pipes will equal srx most of the time... Don't wast time with a transplant...

I have a blown viper motor. Have chance at 01 srx 700 with v force and the pipes included. looking to see what has to be done.
