Hey guys, took my newly modded SRX (Vector Mtn 151" skid) out this weekend FINALLY for a good ride... all went well until it started to really have some "sliding resistance". Wasn't sure what was up so i stopped and tipped the sled over to find the track was litterally stuck to the sliders in a couple of spots. I knocked it all loose and continued on making sure that i went through as much loose snow as possible. It was good as long as i stayed in the really loose stuff. Even a stretch of 500' on a previous sled track was enough to cause some resistance.
I guess my question is, why is this skid so much different than my stock 121" was? I could ride a hard packed trail for miles and never feel that my sliders were overheating or getting sticky.
When i had it tipped over, i could pull the track away from the sliders approx an inch with moderate pull with one finger... maybe 15-20lbs?
Any suggestions?

what lug height did you go with on the 151" track?
With lug height over 1 1/4" you should consider a set of ice scratchers. Another option would be to install bolts onto the end of you skis. Set the bolt so that it barely would touch the concrete in you shop. That'll help you get some snow in there. I don't think it's necessarily the track length (121 vs 151) as it is the lug height (1.0" vs 1.25 or larger)
I also noticed my slides were sticky after I installed my 1.35" cobra track. I have since ran the track as loose as possible to not ratchet. The track is fully clipped and finally the dragging diminished for me. good luck.

I run a wheel kit in the front rail,s.Also i heard running bigger idler wheels help,s too.
Check to see if your track is set too tight. 1" may not be enough on a 151" track.
I use Polaris Indy idler wheels that are about .200 bigger than stock Yamaha wheels. I've been riding in lousey snow conditions with much less worry.

Sorry, i've been out of town for a few days, but thanks for the input. I put a 2" finger track on it, which has 1-1/2" lugs with a 1/2" finger on top.
I will try loosening it off a bit yet and good idea with the scratchers and maybe the bolt at the end of the ski. Do you ever find it catches on anything when you are crossing over obstacles on the trail?
Thanks again!
