play in brake disc

How much play is there supposed to be in the brake disc (97 sx 700) I've changed the keyway looked over everything and still have approx 7/16 of back and forth play also seems to have play around the shaft like it's missing a sleeve. This seems excessive to me I can hear it hammering on the keyway sometimes. Do the hubs wear on these things?
 
Way too much mine moves approx 1/16 to an 1/8 tops. look at the key way again make sure no spacers are mia (missing in action)lol. westsideracing.com go to bottom of page there is a parts fishe and diagrams of the parts. make sure you have all of them.let me know what you find.
 
I had a look at it last night. It would appear that I need a new jack shaft,brake disc and keyway. I dismissed these earlier this year because I thought it was very little wear. Basically the edges where the keyway sits (shaft,brake hub) are slightly worn from the previous owner not changing the keyway when It needed one. Now that slight movement at the brake hub amounts to 7/16 of play at the outer diameter of the disc...... I guess 20,000km has taken its toll.

When i have them apart i always put just a dab of grease on the key and splines,just a dab nothing that will sling out.
 
Ya me too!!! A fellow member (MRVIPER700) just informed me that bender sells a kit for this exact problem. It replaces the hub of the disc on high mile sleds. I put a caliper to the hub and shaft ...... almost 27 thousands difference.... NO WONDER it's sloppy
