Started this year. Everyone and a while I get this awful belt noise. I thought it was water on my belt from all the drifts...deep snow... Well it stated with flat trails no dust or snow under hood.

It will only do this from a start to 10 mph it seems.. It did this on and off for the last week.

I just got done cleaning them and checking them out. I checked the belt and tension 10 times and looked things over.. I found nothing wrong....

Well tonight it did it again and I rev it a couple of times and here the secondary stayed open.

I did notice the secondary feels different then my other secondarys... It feels weaker easier to open....

What do yas think?

thanks joe

Just had this issue on our piped/ported 700 SX with 1.5' x 144" track
Here's what I did to elliminate the problem:
-sanded primary sheave surfaces with 400 emery cloth
-sanded secondary sheave surfaces with 400 emery cloth
-installed new secondary spring
-installed new secondary buttons
-installed new yamaha belt

Sled now performs like new again!

I did sand both clutches after searching on here. The primary seems fine but the secondary seems loose.

I did notice there is another slot the spring can go in? Will this help tighen the spring up some.

update...

I took both clutches apart but I am not sure what I am looking at that might be wrong. I can take pics to help me help you to see if there is a problem with these. What would you like to see a pic of?

update...

Somehow we over looked this. My spider bushing is sliding out. Now I have to get the primary apart. I ordered A new bushing an going to make a primary break ( grunt tool )....
