Maybe this is a stupid question, but here goes. Does a 95 VMAX 600 have an actual chaincase gasket or do you just use permatex gasked maker. I took the chaincase apart last year to change my track and the previous owner had used gasket maker to seal it up. When I put it back together I did the same but I've had a steady leak ever since and I've even tried resealing it twice more but no luck. I would like to make it right and need to know what its supposed to be.

there is in fact a gasket for that chaincase. problem with them was any time you removed the cover, you had to replace the gasket. so, most people would use a gasket sealer in lieu of purchasing a new gasket. couple things to consider: is all the old gasket material removed from both the cover and case and what your using for a gasket maker. i have had excellent results from a permatex product called motoseal1, specifically designed for chaincases. works better than the original gasket, in my opinion.

I made my own gasket by hand and it worked eprfect for me. Just use your chaincase as a template and go from there. You'll need some gasket material but you can get that just about anywhere. Of course you can always order one from the yammy dealer, I just couldnt justify the 40 dollar price tag my local dealer wanted for a few dollars worth of material. Heres a link with some instructions on how to do it yourself.
I hope this helps you some.

Thanks for the answers guys that helps me a lot. I could not see the picture because I'm not a VMAX4 member, but the detailed instructions all make sence. $40 is outrageous for a gasket so I will make my own.
