Hi all. New to the forum.
I currently ride a '99 VMax 700 Triple Deluxe and i'm considering a deal that could put me on a 2001 SRX almost even up. I always wanted an SRX but wonder if i'll miss the elc start and rvrs on the VMax. I figure they will ride about the same as far as the suspension goes but the SRX will corner better and obviously be much faster, which is always a plus..
The SRX in question has approx 1800 miles and looks to be in very good shape.
I'm thinking that if I was to keep one long term and put some money into it to customize and upgrade than going with the deal on the SRX would be smarter than keeping and upgrading my 99 VMax. Ya think?

I guess the question is, how often do you use the Reverse option? Now for the elcetric start, I know its a nice necesity to have... If you don't know, the SRX has about 30-35 hp on that V-max and will require maintainence on the powervalves at least once a year, so if you just want a sled to get on and go keep what you got, I'll tell you this much, "IF" you get on that SRX and take it for a ride that V-max is GONE!? If that SRX runs right it'll be snappy and crisp and put a smile a MILE wide on your mug! Good luck in your decision. And WELCOME to the BEST site on the planet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you really miss the reverse,you can always add reverse to the SRX down the road...its a bit of work but not insurmountable.

my question would be why would he want to make the trade????he has a newer sled more power (srx).

you know what you have, you dont know what you'll get.
I know Reverse and Electric Start are high up on my want list for my next sled.
if you want more power, look for a set of used pipes, or better yet, get a pre modded or bigger engined used sled.
if you do the trade, look very closely at the rear suspension and extra close at the W arm.

yeah if you know what your have, triple pipe the V-Max and have close the power of an SRX. I would be sketchy on trading an older less with less power for a new sled with more, I think it would be asking for trouble. But hey, its your choice and your sled, do what ya wants

Well depending on the srx owners personality. People get bored and want change. Maybe he doesn't want to pull anymore or maybe he's gotten old enough the hp isn't that big of a deal. Maybe he is sick of every person he passes on the lake thinking its a drag run. Just a bunch of maybe's
