'89 Phazer Heat THumb Wiring

Does anyone know how wire a heated throttle lever on the '89 Phaser? I've tapped into the yellow wire but should there be a resistor like the hot grips. It starts to make the engine misfire when it warms up... Thanks for any help

Tap into the same place the hand warmers are wired into. The resistor is for the high/low on the hand warmers. Do not run the thumb warmer through it.
