I have a 2000 SRX the problem is at WOT it will idle a run fine until you give her gas at a hard take off but if you ease into it will run fine, I cleaned the carbs last night and still the same, put the orange silicone on the exhaust donuts and still the same The last time I gased the sled up was in Michigan on my trip down there I'm just wondering it this a FUEL ISSUE or a ELECTRICAL my tach dosen't bounce too much it will hit 8100 and climb to 8500 but it is nasty running at those rpms spitting and sputtering, I have no rub throughs, when running the temp light does not come when this issue happening, I checked my plugs since the trip in MI and now they are dry black
but before the trip they where nice and tan colored
where would I have to look to fix this problem?
Need help fast

maybe another aging stator issue? seem to be alot of that lately, theres been a few recent posts with the test procedure. worth a look
IMO:
Sounds to me, as well, like it could be another stator issue.
I woud elliminate the simple stuff first:
-ensure the "tors" is adjusted properly or bypassed
-install new, properly gapped plugs
-drain the old fuel out[run it in your car/truck] and refuel with premium from a known supplier.

where would you notice the sign more of a stator problem in the higher RPM's or lower because all my problems are in the higher RPMS
ARe you sure there were no sticking needle and seats in the carbs? SOunds like a fuel problem. Check your pulse line that drives the fuel pump. At high rpm where more fuel is required is sounds like it runs a little dry.
I say fuel supply issue.
Check the fuel filter if there is one. Is there a screen in the tank?
It would be a pain but you could run an auxillary fuel tank and see if that fixes it. That would elimnate anything up to the fuel pump.

Weak spark is most evident where the ignition system is under its greatest demand, high RPM, high load, high horsepower.
There have been some real good ideas already on this post.
I would also add that you ensure you have checked the reeds, + ensure the "top hat" fuel filters under the needle + seats are not dirty, although back firing, + missing is usually not a lean symptom, it tends to show up as surging, hesitation, and DAMAGE.

interesting stuff..as my srx won't open out at wot.It is lacking the power or something. My carbs cleaned 3rd time..compression is great...128-127-132.confused also with this issue. Can't get past 95 to 100 on a good day.Last year 115 in a snap.Cluches are re built and valve and servo good.Maybe these SRX's are starting to die slowly from old age..

My 2002 was like that since I aquired it used, low miles, like new, a few years back, it was an underperformer and had all kinds of DCS issues no matter how I jetted it even with race fuel!
This summer I did a complete overhaul on it including a new stator and a Viper crank. This year my sled pulls like it never has. Its now a 144"x 1 1/4", long travel, high bars, high rise Boss seat, high windshield ect...and is 5 -10 mph faster on the GPS then it was as a 121"!!!
I am not exactly sure what the problem was before but I suspect it was either the crank the stator or both.

well may be time to stop dumping $$ into it and look at another sled.I would like to maybe see what doo has that is fast and not heavy as the 4-strokes...a possibility.Just have a look at them.My buddy down the road rides zillion miles every weekend and his doos are solid so far.I really hate when the SRX gets stuck in a little fluff of snow...lol
Thanks Guys for the replys and it was sideshowbob that had the right answer it was low grade premium, put fresh stuff in and no bog
Thanks
Thanks
Are the stators the same in 2000 and 2001 my SRX is dead no spark at all have it apart I sanded the pickup and the stator and cleaned everything else still no spark
Does anyone have a stator that I can borrow for my races I'm holding saturday I need my SRX for the drags LOL
