...I'm looking at buying a good used sled, but having trouble figuring out which one would work out best for me. I want a 600cc mtn max but sx, srx, sxr ??? 2 cylinder or 3 cylinder ??? This is my first post with TY so be gentle guys. :o) Dennis

The SX, SRX, or SXR are not mountain sleds. There was a MTN SRX. If you ride the hills or even just deep stuff, you want a mountain sled. A Mtn Max was a good sled in it's day and still is with some mods.

Tell us more about where and how you ride.

...we ride in northeastern montana. we usually don't have enough snow to ride but this is the second year in a row that we do. about 1 to 1.5 feet of snow on the level. not much by mtn standards, but we make it work. we do alot of our riding in the surrounding hills, farm country and open ranch land around the area. watch out for the ROCKS.

You would probrably do ok with a shorty then. A Viper or an SXR sounds like it would work good. The SRX is a great trail sled or race sled, but doesn't have the suspension and is heavy. If you never go very fast (over 70 mph) a geared down Phazer is a lot of fun due to it's light weight. First upgrade might be a deeper lug track.

......Thanks for the help with the sx thing. I agree about the phazer,,,,the one i had was alot of fun, was light ,and could muscle it when needed. wanted to try a water cooled because i blew up the phazer on a warmer day, 30's, going down a summer fallow field. sled was lugged down some in the deeper snow, i thing it heated up too much???? O WELL on to the next toy..............TAHNKS Dennis
