Broken steering stem

I broke it just under the handle bar mount.

I was thinking of fixing it my self by welding it, and adding a couple of gussets to make it stronger than new.

Anyone have any other ideas ?

People jam another pipe down the id of the old to strength it. I think the mountain max bars come strengthened. My sno-tek bar has gussets.

we took bout 6" of smaller diameter and welded it in stem, then welding plate back to top of that. I know have a "free" 2" riser.
