I have a 98 700 venture that runs great. Its real strong and I have not had a problem with it since I bought it. I am looking at upgrading my suspension(stock) and not knowing alot about whats under it now compared to an upgrade, I am trying to get some opinions as to what rear skid would provide me with an more cushioned ride. I am a lake runner. I spend 95 % of my time running the lake with little to no trail riding. Lake is bumpier than hell and I am trying to get an idea of options for rear skids. Let me know any ideas. Thanks all.

troutman, just my expeirance,I'm running a '99 600,the stock rear shock pooped out on me. So if you tried ,you will not find any aftermarket rear shocks! So I talked to YAMAHA CANADA in the Toronto area(?)customer help and they helped me out immensley on a shock/spring combo.I also changed the center shock/spring from another Yamaha sled(?).Got my parts from Riches on this site,WAY CHEAPER,trust us.Instead of changing a whole skid she rides way better than the original setup it came with!If you need #'s I could look up which shocks' I bought.Just a thought....

M-10, the ride will amaze you once you dial it in, plus isn't a venture a 136"?These m-10's ride the best anyways and you should be able to find a used one reasonable if your on a budget. You'll find that most are 121", but thats no problem, just buy some rail extensions from Tracks Usa, I've been running them for the last 5,400+ miles with no problems. The only downside is you will lose a little initial transfer on takeoff and maybe 5-10 mph top speed.

Polaris xtra 10 is another good choice.

I am seriously contemplating getting an edge skid for my 2000 xc600sp, taking the xtra 10 out of the Xc throwing extensions on it and putting that in the 97 600 venture.

The proaction eats up slides even in good snow. That is my biggest gripe. I know the xtra 10 would ride better with 2 on it (given stiffer springs which I need anyway)than the proaction does.

Sounds good. Could ya share the numbers. Thanks

Put an sc10III in there for about 250-300 us dollars & you will be real happy with ride and handling.. Cost is less then rebuilding your pro action....... Yugo to Cadillac....

These part numbers wouldn't be a problem in a 97 700 would they. Sorry about the hyjacking.

It is the same skid.

Personally, I wouldn't spend more than 75-100 on upgrading a proaction. For 200 or so you can get a better skid used.
