last week, i ran on the ice track that will be used for the radar runs on Lake Namakagon. temps in mid 20's.
speedo was showing 115mph and the gps was showing 91.5. stock viper with m-10 and 1.25 predator. buddy has a 136 viper with an m-10 ripsaw and he was at 91mph on gps.

I guess all manufacturers caliber therer speedo's to show higher speeds then actual, this way everyone feels they have a fast sled. Then in reality..most guys are always under the 100mph mark..yet they are claiming they are going 115 and more...its a ploy to get people to spend more money on their sleds to get speed up...what a catch...lol
The group I ride all have GPS and we constantly compare Max speeds, these are all basically bone stock sleds that are used for long 300 mile + trail rides. The speeds are from fairly long pulls on the lake on hard pack trails and are pretty consistant week to week.
Here's the Max GPS readings we had on the last ride[good hard pack snow -18c] :
-800R Renegades[136"]...............103 mph
-Nitro XTX[144"]........................100 mph
-1000 Mach Z[121"]....................107 mph
-900 Fusion[121"].......................100 mph
-1000 T Cat...............................101 mph
-2002 SRX[144" long travel]..........103 mph
There is a trend here...100mph is a fast trail sled ! A lot of people think their sleds are a lot faster then they are , but the GPS does not lie!

i gps my sled everytime i go riding. i was discouraged to see that i copuld only hit 97. i found out that the model gps i use can be linked to a pc and you can replay your trip. i found out that i was breaking 100 consitently. i have even seen 116 mph on my 00 srx 700.

sideshowbob how accurate is your srx speedo compared to the gps? both my 98' and my 01' are dead on at 100mph compared to my gps just wondering if srx's are accurate in general or is it just mine. the viper ones seem really out to lunch.sideshowBob said:The group I ride all have GPS and we constantly compare Max speeds, these are all basically bone stock sleds that are used for long 300 mile + trail rides. We checked a 07 Attack 05 Vector 03 RX1 and 98 SX 700 and all speedos were off about 10 percent. A little more on the RX1 but he like to spin his track. My 700 does 90 the Attack got 105.

I have a US speedo on mine so its in mph. At 100 on the GPS my speedo is sitting right around 105mph.[maybe just a little less]..so its out by no more then 5 % or 5 mph at 100.

compared to my bud's speedo on his '09 nytro, the viper is able 10 % off, including the odometer.
so my viper really has 10 percent less miles on it, which is almost a full season of riding!

My speedo is off on my Viper as usual but when I see 108-110 on the dreamola the GPS reads 102.
