pulling the cyclinder head

99 700 v-max: to pull the head do i have to drain the coolant ? Or is there a way to block it off?

drain it. there is a plug in the block byt he exhaust pipes if I remember right

I find that to be messy pain and time consuming .Last time I drained the SRX..I stuck a hose into the reservoir and down the hose leading to the pump.Syphoned the anti-freeze out and no problem when I took the heads off.

With the chance of sounding like one of those super safety-minded nerds, be careful with siphoning antifreeze and also leaving it around the garage in open containers. Antifreeze (ethylene glycol) is a pretty strong poison. Absolutely deadly to pest and small children. It has a sweet taste which attracts pets to it. Don't leave it out in an open container.
