Hey Guys,

I'm looking at a 1979 SRX. The seller states its in excellent condition and runs great, the photos dont show much detail but it appears to be in nice condition. The owner has had it for 25 years and it has been stored in a warm basement. Any idea's on what this is worth ?

Thanks

mj

Thanx YammiGod,

The seller is sending me some better photos that I'll try and post, but it sounds like a pretty nice piece.

Paid $2000 for this one to give you something to compare to.

Is that as clean as it looks.........

It seems like the 79's are worth less than the 76-78 models.

Very clean. I got a deal. actually traded even for a sled I had. The seller wanted $2k firm. It may very well be worth $2500-$3,000. And yes, from what I've seen there is about a $2k difference in value for a mint 76-77 vs. a 79.

Not quite as clean as the seller stated, any more idea's on value ? Click on the photos for larger image.

Thanks

$1200 would be a fair price for both of you. If that's a crack in the hood, I'm thinking $1000 or less. Looks like a little elbow grease would go a long way with that girl.

Yes, the hoods cracked fairly good on the left side and spidered on the right, would need a sticker kit and a repaint, a bumper, a vent for the plastic on the right side of the gas tank, a seat recover and like you said a lot of elbow grease. I think it would be a fun project. The seller is asking $795.00

Can the parts I listed above be purchased at a Yamaha Dealer ?

79 srx parts

Most of the parts can be had from Koch Performance. Just check out there website. He just started reproducing the front bumper. They should have everything but the vent on the gas tank shroud. You should be able to find a good used one somewhere. For the price you quoted you can't go wrong.

WOW! Freakin amazes me what people consider excellent condition!! What a jack! At least his price reflects the true condition. Ya, $795 sounds like a decent deal.

Enjoy it.

and dont forget the bellypan condition plays a big role in the price of these sleds .they are rare as hens teeth! lol

Yea,

Some people have different idea's on what is "excellent condition", I would say its in fair condition with most of the parts needed for a good restoration.

Also, the speedo is in kmh, are the Canadian models any different than the US models?

I agree, the price is fair.

What are you guys doing to restore the belly pan? this one looks to be in one piece but will need to be "straightened out"

Thanks

THESE GUYS ARE VERY CORRECT. TRYING TO FIND THESE SLEDS WITH A GREAT PAN IS NEALY INPOSSIBLE. KEEP IN MIND, EVERYTHING IS MINT WHEN SOMEBODY TRYING TO SELL. THE PRICE I POSTED IS THESE SLEDS IN PERFECT CONDITION. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Srx

If the sled is going to be a rider the belly pan doesn't mean much. I would worry alot more about the mechanics of the sled. Then go and enjoy running the hell out of it. That is what I do with my 79. I have a 78 that I keep in excellent shape. My 79 is an everyday rider that I go out enjoy tearing up the fields and lakes around the house. Like I stated the biggest thing is having a good motor on these. Many of these are just a ticking time bomb. These are some high reving twins. It puts some wear and tear on them. Here is a pic of my 79 rider.

I will ride it a bit on groomed trails. My ultimate goal would be to restore it to like new condition.

I agree about the engine, I'll look it over hard, make sure its not a hand gernade.

Thanks everyone for the advice.....................
