Anyone ever put a new m8 cat suspension in a viper mtn? by rough measurments ill have to shorten (narrow) the top mounting axle roughly a half inch, but i got it sitting here and its tempting,....even if it is cat parts,...

works good in there. front mount moves a little forward as does the rear. compensate for the narrower cat skid with thicker backing plates inside the tunnel when you drill new holes. rear scissor is actually wider than the stock skid and when you make new drop brackets for the rear, just compensate for the difference. do not try to put the 162 3"pitch track in there without cutting the lugs or extending or dropping and rolling the chain case. not impressed with the 7 tooth drivers with the 3" p track as the clearance at the bulkhead is less than it is now. knocks about 30+ pounds out of the rear, and if you get the shocks right its not a bad ride.

good to know, so is a cat tunnel tapered or is that different widths just because of ounting brackets on them too? And has anyone ever seen 6T 3.0 pitch drivers for the 1 1/16" shaft for yamaha? I havent found any yet but that would probably solve the clearence problems!!

the skid is wider at the back due to the way cats mount the drop brackets. dont think your going to find a 6t in the 3p. look at the polaris or doo tracks in the 2.86p close to that length and some 7t drivers. close in diameter to 8t 2.52 drivers. still a little close at the bulkhead if you go over a 2.25 lug, but more room then the 3" pitch and cutting lugs.
You cannot run a 3 pitch 2.25" in a Viper Mtn, the lugs will hit the front cooler. 2" is max with 7 tooth 3 pitch drivers.

hence my last sentence in the above post about cutting lugs, thanks for clarifying the allowable length. the 2.86 w/ 7t and 2.25 lugs looks good in there, but the series 5 155 track totally sucks.
