I had bought a 99 sx 700 from a friend who used to drag race this sled on grass. When i bought it, it was set up for grass, he had some polaris clutch crap in there. i want to set it up for 1000ft. Does this sound right : 8bu (no rivets) in the primary with y s y spring, it engages at out 4300 to 4400. Secondary i have a hauck silver spring and a 50 42 helix. My gearing is 23 39(22-40 stock). What do you think? Am i going the right direction. The sled is stock. except for v force 3 reed, speed track with 288 chisels full ohlins shocks and being straped down. I know the sled has the potential to run 110 mph in the 100 ft, ive seen it done.

8bu,s not so great for 1000' with that helix. Go to about a 46/36 helix & load the tip or go to 89a-10 weights with a similar helix. You need a low finish angle helix & lots of tip weight to make 8bu-00,s work for good top end , specially in a 700 SX. If you don,t have pipes 84-8500 rpm is the sweet spot for good top end speed. 82-8300 rpm for short 500' drags.

how much tip weight in the 8bu's should i run? does my gearing sound correct? have you ran that helix before? secondary spring?
